The Sorted Tuition beta waitlist

Last updated: 3 November 2026

This notice explains what happens to your details when you join the waitlist for the Sorted Tuition beta. We process personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Malta’s Data Protection Act. This notice covers the waitlist only. The Sorted Tuition app has its own privacy notice, which you will see when you create an account.

Who we are

The data controller is Sorted Tuition, a Malta sole trader. We are not required to appoint, and have not appointed, a Data Protection Officer. For any privacy question or request, contact support@sortedtuition.com.

What we collect

When you join the waitlist we keep:

  • your name and email address;
  • your confirmation that you are a tutor aged 18 or over;
  • how you heard about us, which you choose from a list;
  • the campaign tags in the link you followed to our page, if any (for example utm_source=instagram), and the domain of the website you came from, never its full address;
  • when you joined, which version of the consent wording you saw, and when you confirmed your email address.

We do not ask about your students, and we never collect card or bank details on the waitlist. Our website sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics that follow you.

Why we use it, and on what basis

  • To invite you to the beta, and to send you occasional emails about development, new features and launch. The waitlist is how we invite tutors to the beta.
  • To understand which channels bring tutors to us, such as search, social media or other tutors, using how you heard about us and the campaign tags.

We do this because you agreed to it when you joined and confirmed your email address (your consent, Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR). You can withdraw your consent at any time by unsubscribing. The waitlist is how we invite tutors to the beta, so withdrawing your consent removes you from the waitlist and the beta, and from the 30 free days after the beta, which we give you as a thank you for joining and using it. It does not affect anything we did before you withdrew.

We will not use your details for any other kind of marketing without asking you separately, and we never sell them.

Who else handles your details

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) stores the waitlist and sends our emails, from its data centres in Ireland, in the EU.
  • Cloudflare runs our domain.
  • Google (Google Workspace) holds our mailbox. If you write to us, your email and our reply are kept there. Google may store mail outside the EU, under the safeguards it publishes for such transfers.

Each handles your details only to provide its service to us.

How long we keep your details

  • If you do not confirm your email address before the link expires, or the waitlist fills up first, we delete your entry.
  • If you unsubscribe, we delete your entry straight away. We keep only a scrambled, one-way code made from your email address, so that we never email that address again.
  • When the beta opens, we invite tutors in groups. If you have not created an account 30 days after your invitation, we email you to say your place will be deleted in a further 30 days and that you will no longer be eligible for the 30 free days. At 60 days after your invitation, we delete your entry.
  • If you create an account, we delete your waitlist entry. Your account is then covered by the app’s privacy notice.
  • If we end the waitlist or the beta before inviting you, we tell you by email and delete your entry.
  • Before deleting any entry we keep anonymous totals, such as how many tutors came from each channel, which do not identify you.
  • Deleted entries remain in our backups until those backups expire. They are not restored except to recover from a failure.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • show you the details we hold about you, and give you a copy;
  • correct them;
  • delete them;
  • restrict how we use them, or object to it.

To do any of these, email support@sortedtuition.com. We may ask you to confirm the request from the address you joined with. We reply within one month.

You can also complain to Malta’s data protection authority, the Information and Data Protection Commissioner (idpc.org.mt). We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Changes to this notice

If we change this notice in a way that matters, we will tell you by email before the change applies.
